Let Us Help You Reconnect Your Life WIth Others Through Better Hearing.
Happy New Year!
We wish you and your family a happy 2009 and thank you for choosing us to provide your hearing healthcare services. We appreciate your trust and confidence.
If you know someone who hasn't taken steps to take care of their own hearing problems, consider talking to them about your own experiences. Your experience can encourage someone to take steps toward better hearing--and that's a special gift for anyone.
Home Repairs
Occasionally someone brings in a hearing aid he or she tried to repair themselves. Our recommendation: If there's a problem with one of your hearing aids, please bring it to the office.
We've seen hearing aids with tubing super-glued to the earmold, microphones poked at until broken, earhooks broken off--and aids heated in the microwave oven. (They didn't survive!)
You wouldn't do any of that, of course--but if there's a problem with your hearing aids, let us take care of it. That way, a little problem won't become a major repair.
Sincerely,
Dr. Catherine J. Martine and Staff
Meet our newest office member, six month old Sweetgrass Johann Tipper. He's a long-haired standard dachshund and is being groomed by Dr. Martine to be a show dog. Despite all of the attention he's been getting, he's a laidback fella and quite the man-about-the-office---with his harem in tow. Come in and let us introduce you to Mr. Tipper.
Dr. Martine and her husband, Harold, completed a hearing aid mission trip with the Starkey Hearing Foundation to Malawi, Africa, where 1,131 adults and children received more than 2,200 hearing instruments.
“Helping provide the gift of hearing to those in need in Africa not only changed those we helped; but, it changed those of us involved, too,” says Dr. Martine. “Harold was delighted that he had the opportunity to assist and watch the positive reactions of the children, many of whom were able to hear for the first time. This was a very powerful experience—one neither Harold nor I will ever forget.”

Dr. Martine has given a lot of her time this year to mission work. Besides her trip to Africa, she has traveled to Guadalajara, Mexico, where she and a team of audiologists from across the country helped fit 800 children and adults with hearing instruments. In the picture below, she is asking a teenager from Zapopan if his hearing is balanced. "Seeing the smiling faces of the people we helped was really, really, great."

"I have been a patient of Cathy Martine's since 1990. She has always looked out for my best interest. She has helped to save me money on the purchase of hearing aids. When digital was first starting, she encouraged me to stick with my analog aids due to price concerns. I now have two behind the ear digital aids that are wonderful. Whenever I have any problems with the aids, she and her staff are very helpful in making sure that if repairs need to be made (out of office) that I get a loaner aid so that I can continue my life.
I could not ask for a better doctor/patient relationship. Thanks for everything."

"I want to thank everyone at Carolina Hearing Services, Inc. The entire staff was very friendly and most helpful in every possible way. The difference my hearing aids have made in my life is unbelievable. I can hear things I have not been able to hear in a long time, and the hearing aids are easy to wear and are very comfortable.
I recommend Carolina Hearing Services, Inc., for anyone with a hearing loss."

"I have been suffering from hearing loss for fifty years---since serving in the Army before the days of ear protection through years of business meetings and public life where speaking and hearing are clearly crucial. Thanks to Catherine's skill and her expert staff, I have a new and fine-tuned set of hearing aids and am acquiring the discipline to recover the joy of hearing. It is actually fun to visit Carolina Hearing for adjustments or batteries and fun conversation as well. Even her three dachshunds are pleasant.
I now have fewer misunderstandings with family and friends; greater enjoyment of concerts, movies, and, yes, even TV; and I don't have to repeatedly say, "Excuse me."
If you have hearing issues, talk to Carolina Hearing about them."
